Carrying A.A.’s Message to Professionals in Lancaster County, PA

Resources and Support for Professionals

C.P.C. Lancaster, PA, works in partnership with non-alcoholic professionals to extend the reach of A.A. and provide support to professionals and those who may have a drinking problem. By building bridges with professionals who work with or come in contact with problem drinkers, our committee aims to help individuals who may have yet to encounter the program.

We provide resources and support to professionals to help them gain a deeper understanding of alcoholism and provide more effective and informed support to their clients, staff, and patients. We welcome the opportunity to work with you and extend the reach of our message of recovery in Lancaster County.

Communities We Serve

Through various workshops, seminars, and other activities, we are committed to spreading awareness about the organization’s purpose to the medical, legal, judicial, and religious communities in Lancaster, PA.

Though we do not affiliate with any outside organization, our goal is to build strong relationships between A.A. and the professional community so that we can work together to support those in need.

Are You A Medical Student?

At C.P.C., we work closely with colleges and universities to arrange attendance at open A.A. meetings by medical students. We provide volunteer chaperones who can answer questions and provide detailed information about the program of recovery. If you’re interested in learning more about this, we encourage you to reach out to us.

If you are a student or faculty member at a college or university, we believe it’s important to be informed about alcoholism and the recovery program available through Alcoholics Anonymous. Our committee, Cooperation with Professional Community (C.P.C.), is dedicated to providing information and education about this illness and our program of recovery.

Resources for Volunteers

C.P.C. Lancaster, PA, is committed to extending the message of recovery beyond the walls of A.A. If you’re a member of A.A., we welcome your willingness to volunteer and help carry the message. Our committee meets monthly on the first Monday of every month at 7 pm at the 521 Club.

Origin and Purpose of CPC

“Our Twelfth Step—carrying the message—is the basic service that the A.A. Fellowship gives; this is our principal aim and the main reason for our existence. Therefore, A.A. is more than a set of principles; it is a society for alcoholics in action. We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither, and those who haven’t been given the truth may die.” The A.A. Service Manual, “A.A.’s Legacy of Service” p. S1

C.P.C., or Cooperation with Professional Community, came into existence in 1970 as a distinct entity when the trustees’ committee emerged from the Public Information Committee. The Conference C.P.C. Committee was formed in 1971 to oversee the development of this program. Today, C.P.C. is widely recognized as a separate activity from the public information, treatment, or corrections work that A.A. engages in. While some areas have overlapping functions, most local communities, areas, and regions view C.P.C. as a distinct program.
